New ISP 'Gigler' launches gigabit broadband services powered by CityFibre's Fibre-to-the-Home network #
Ground-breaking new ‘superfast-for-all’ gigabit fibre broadband product charged on usage rather than speed.
Next-generation access Internet Service Provider (ISP), Gigler, has launched today exclusively in Bournemouth, delivering gigabit broadband services over CityFibre’s pure fibre optic network. As the first ISP to launch commercial services over CityFibre’s open access network, Gigler will offer its truly ground-breaking broadband services to over 21,000 homes that are already connected to CityFibre’s pure Fibre-to-the-Home network, the largest in the UK. Gigler has launched just one product, Gigler Fibre Broadband, which offers up to 1Gigabit per second download (100x faster than the UK’s average) and 500Mbps upload speeds (200x faster than the UK’s average), on this ultra-low latency network. Greg Mesch, CEO at CityFibre said: “Gigler has launched following further development and investment into our Fibre-to-the-Home network in Bournemouth. During successful customer trials, it came as no surprise that people not only enjoyed the incredible user experience due to the speeds, which dwarf any other residential services available, but also that their online behaviour patterns changed in step with the more advanced technology, they uploaded more files and content, as well as shifting more of their overall TV programme and film viewing online. “We are pleased that the people of Bournemouth are now able to take advantage of this future-proof fibre platform through the broadband services available from Gigler. “Pure fibre connectivity is emerging around the world. Most recently, Google has even taken its first steps with a highly successful pre-registration campaign for its planned pure fibre network in Kansas. In just six weeks, 88% of the city met its demand targets for a fibre rollout. Countless other programmes are also proving the demand for fibre. CityFibre believes that now is the time for next generation access broadband services in the UK to thrive.” Adam Troman, general manager at Gigler added: “Up until now, consumers have had little choice but to accept small, incremental improvements in speed from providers, and the benefits of the extra fractions of Megabits sold to them. Today, we have launched a simple, single product which represents the most advanced residential service available in the UK and is on par with the most advanced digital footprints on the planet. “Gigler offers a gigabit product for all, one that will transform users’ online experience giving them unlimited opportunities with a much fairer tariff based on usage rather than speed. “We look forward to working with CityFibre to expand the Bournemouth network and offer this exciting product throughout the town.” Gigler’s innovative approach to pricing is based on usage rather than speed. Everyone receives the same superfast speed, meaning customers are not forced to accept lower quality for a cheaper price. Instead, customers simply select the usage tier best suited to their needs.- 80GB usage will cost £25 per month
- 250GB usage will cost £35 per month
- Unlimited usage will cost £50 per month
