Armed Forces

Doing things differently

We’re building a seamless network fit for the data-age. As an organisation we wanted to adapt this seamlessness to the onboarding of our new employees, especially those that are ex-forces. Transitioning from the military to the civilian world can be challenging in all sorts of ways. We’re doing our best to make sure it’s as easy as possible.

We have all ex-military applicants pre-screened by other ex-military employees within CityFibre to match the candidate with a role that is best suited to the person and the position or rankings they held. Plus, our ex-servicemen and women are always on hand to help understand what life after the armed forces looks like.

As ex-military, you are probably used to a comprehensive system of support – well, we give our own people the same.

Armed Forces Covenant

We’re proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant - a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. We’re currently hold a silver level membership. As we work to embed the Covenants ethos in all of our build partners, we’re striving for gold.

Military Community

The military community within CityFibre is focused on creating an encouraging environment for our ex-forces employees as they transition to civilian careers. For all ex-military personnel there are policies in place to guarantee any and all the support they need. Plus, the Network provides valuable mentoring support to all those who may want or need it.

Service Leavers

Our Service Leavers know what it means to be a part of something bigger, and this is what makes them incredible additions to our teams. We’ve set up the CityFibre Armed Forces Network to offer our ex-forces employees a sense of comfort and familiarity that they might miss from their time in the forces. The Network will allow you to meet like-minded people, share experiences, raise awareness for different military charities, and support one another as you step into your new roles.

Reservists & Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs)

Supporting our employees and backing each other is a key part of The CityFibre Way. So if you’re already a reservist, or looking to become one, we can help you with the following:

An additional 10 days’ leave for Reservist employees.

Support for Reservist employees during times of mobilisation and demobilisation.

Partnerships with Reserve units on a collaborative manning project.

Armed Forces Network, supporting employees who are Reservists, Veterans, and spouses/partners.

An additional 10 days paid leave to Cadet Force Adult Volunteer employees.

Potential sponsorship of local cadet unit through shared facilities.

""I joined CityFibre 6 months ago after an 8-year career in the Royal Signals. The skills which I gained during my career are valued by the company and the training I've received for my role has been extensive. CityFibre invested in my future by providing me with civilian accreditations and ensured my transition into civilian life went smoothly.""

"“The support I receive as a reservist is invaluable and was one of the key factors which attracted me to CityFibre in the first place. I feel that the skills which I have gained in the Army Reserve are really valued and recognised. The additional 10 days of paid leave means there is no pressure on me to compromise on family time.”"

""To meet my Reservist commitment and maintain a work-life balance, the support I receive is paramount and welcomed. The 10 days annual leave aligned to the commitment is key to me being able to fulfil my duties and helped me in my decision to join CityFibre. It ensures I am still able to spend quality time with my family around work and service.""
