Six internet service providers launch over the Coventry CORE

26 September 2014

A major milestone has been reached in transforming Coventry into one of the fastest connected cities in the world. Businesses throughout the city will soon be able to benefit from gigabit speed internet connectivity with the Coventry CORE signing up partners to deliver ultra-fast broadband. Six local internet service providers have joined forces with CityFibre, the team behind the Coventry CORE pure fibre network, to give businesses access to next generation broadband speeds which are 100 times faster than the UK average. They are ACUTEC, Connection City, HBT Communications, Netmetix, PS4B and Shiva Technology. Each provider will deliver tailored communication packages over the Coventry CORE network with benefits including seamless online communication, VoIP technology, cloud computing and remote data storage. More than 200 businesses have already registered their no-obligation interest in the demand-led Coventry CORE network and more are being encouraged to follow suit to ensure they do not miss out on internet speeds that can revolutionise their operations. Brett Marshall, of Coventry CORE, said: “We are delighted to announce our first partners that will be able to deliver a wide range of internet and communication packages over the Coventry CORE network to meet the needs of businesses across the city. “Each provider brings a distinct offering to the table with a number of ‘Gig’ packages available and services that will greatly improve business efficiency and productivity. “And with an ever growing need for greater speeds and bandwidth, Coventry couldn’t be in a better position to take advantage of this new technology. “As a Gigabit City, Coventry will be able to set itself alongside the most digitally advanced locations in the world with connectivity on a par with Hong Kong and Stockholm. “Work to expand and upgrade Coventry’s pure fibre network is about to begin but it is imperative that businesses continue to register their no-obligation interest so that we can prioritise our investment in the expansion to meet the demand.” He added: “Through our service providers, small and medium-sized businesses in Coventry can also apply for a connection voucher as part of the Government’s SuperConnected Cities programme. “The grant of up to £3,000 will pay for the connection costs of an ultra-fast, pure fibre network to your business. The scheme is open until March 2015 but vouchers are available on a first come, first served basis.”
