Dundee’s new £23.2 million forensic science facility features the latest state-ofthe-art crime fighting technology, including biology, drug and chemistry laboratories, fingerprint and scene examination units, a DNA robot and the Scottish DNA database. Many of these services rely on the secure transfer of huge amounts of information.

Challenge

The Scottish Police Services Authority required a secure, reliable data infrastructure to connect Dundee’s Tayside Police HQ with the new forensics facility. The connection was vital to share information and needed to be built and tested within a three week timeframe.
