Exa Networks and Diva Telecom to leverage CityFibre’s newly acquired network assets

London, 5 April 2016 – Less than 90 days after the completion of its acquisition of KCOM’s national fibre network assets, CityFibre has announced two commercial agreements, with Exa Networks and Diva Telecom adding 350 new sites to its new and extensive networks in Leeds and Bradford. Exa Networks, specialists in connectivity provision to the education and business sectors, have committed 250 new connections. As a Bradford-based business, their primary focus will be on leveraging the city’s dark fibre network, combining the strategic migration of its extensive customer base with a major drive on customer acquisition. In addition, Exa has agreed a strategic national partnership with CityFibre targeting the UK’s education sector. Exa already serves thousands of schools and colleges across the country with market leading connectivity and filtering services. The partnership will support Exa in bringing better services to educational institutions across CityFibre’s national network footprint, transforming their digital capabilities with future-proof pure fibre connectivity. Diva Telecom, an established business-to-business telecoms provider with a large customer base in Leeds, have made an initial commitment of 100 connections. These will comprise new and existing customers and enable Diva to differentiate with market-leading, ultra-fast connectivity services. With a combined duct route length of approximately 190 kilometres, CityFibre’s Leeds and Bradford networks are amongst the larger assets acquired in the January transaction, providing Exa and Diva with dense coverage of one of the largest metro areas outside London, to deliver superior gigabit connectivity to area schools and businesses at a lower cost and with faster time to market. Mark Cowgill, Co-Founder of Exa Networks said: “Using CityFibre’s pure fibre infrastructure will enable us to offer our customers best-in-class connectivity services. As a UK leader in providing internet services to the education sector, we understand the crucial importance of ultra-fast connectivity to schools in the modern age and we anticipate huge demand for our services across CityFibre’s national fibre footprint.” Erica Lewis, Managing Director at Diva Telecom said: “Diva has long believed in doing things not only differently but better and look forward to a new suite of pure fibre services cementing our reputation as innovators and market leaders. We look forward to working closely with CityFibre to make the most of this huge opportunity.” Greg Mesch, Chief Executive of CityFibre, commented: “Commercialising our national network assets is of paramount importance to us, and so we are very pleased to be adding two key partners to our ranks. Exa and Diva are both highly commercial organisations with great local market knowledge and a hard-earned reputation for delivering value to their customers. This is the beginning of our journey together. I’m delighted that these agreements continue to demonstrate CityFibre’s ability to rapidly commercialise the assets we acquired less than 90 days ago. Since the acquisition, we have contracted commitment of over 450 new sites in less than 90 days, underlining the importance of an alternative infrastructure provider to BT Openreach.”
