More Peterborough homes and businesses to benefit as CityFibre extends Full Fibre plans

CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, has today announced plans to extend its build footprint for Peterborough enabling thousands more homes to access its full fibre network and reliable high-speed broadband services from Vodafone and TalkTalk.

CityFibre is investing a further £3m to expand the project, taking its total investment in Peterborough to £35m. Earlier this year, CityFibre hit a major milestone in Peterborough when it officially completed its original build plan by bringing the best available connectivity within reach of 60,000 homes in the city. Now, with huge demand for full fibre services, CityFibre is extending its investment in Peterborough so that thousands more homes and businesses can access full fibre connectivity with work currently underway in Hampton and Stanground.

Homes across most of Peterborough are now ready for service, with many customers already enjoying fast and reliable broadband with connections delivered via launch partner Vodafone’s ‘Gigafast Broadband’ service. Many are also able to connect via TalkTalk’s ‘Future Fibre’ packages with more providers expected to join the network soon.

Granemore Group is delivering the project on CityFibre’s behalf. The team will continue to work closely with CityFibre and Peterborough City Council to manage any disruption and use modern build techniques to ensure a fast and efficient roll out.

“This extra investment means we can keep going to ensure even more premises can access the network. Peterborough is a trailblazer, becoming one of the first cities in the UK to have this level of digital infrastructure, creating opportunities and giving a digital boost to the local economy for years to come.”

Full fibre networks, unlike many of the copper-based ‘fibre broadband’ services available today, use 100% fibre optic cables to carry data at light speed all the way from the home to the point of connection. This gives users speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps for upload and download, near limitless bandwidth and connectivity users can depend on.

A full fibre connection also goes far beyond simply enabling access to the latest entertainment at lightning speed.
