Pure fibre delivers huge business benefits for next-generation broadband supplier
Keycom, the specialist supplier of high-speed broadband for student, key-worker, housing association and armed forces accommodation, is gaining a flexible, cost effective and rapid-deployment solution from CityFibre, a leading UK independent fibre infrastructure provider. Connecting a student accommodation building in York to its new local point-of-presence (POP) with a pure fibre link will enable Keycom to deliver the unrestricted internet speeds its tenants expect and give it the ability to rapidly deploy its services to new customer locations.
Selecting a dark fibre connection enables Keycom to gain complete control and flexibility over its bandwidth. The future-proof solution will enable speeds to be increased over time, to serve the rapidly growing data demands of its customers, without incurring additional costs.
“With potential customer sites all over York, CityFibre’s fibre solution is ideal for our needs. CityFibre is able to deploy new connections extremely fast and very cost-effectively, meaning we can deliver our services faster, can put the bandwidth requirements of our customers first and are able to quickly hook up new buildings as required,” says James Blessing, CTO at Keycom.
“Choosing CityFibre infrastructure above the alternative BT point-to-point circuit was much more cost effective as we didn’t have to buy a managed service,” continues James Blessing. “It has given us the ability to connect to our own new York-based POP rather than rely on third party equipment and enables us to deliver other services at a better price as well as cut lead times when it comes to upgrades.”
Rob Hamlin, Head of Business Development at CityFibre commented: “Keycom has recognised the business benefits of utilizing pure fibre infrastructure, which will enable it to deliver an outstanding high-speed internet service to its customers. We are looking forward to working with Keycom to connect other multi-accommodation sites to our fibre network in the same way.
“This connection marks yet another step in our vision to make York into a true Gigabit City, whereby we ensure that all communities within a city – the public sector, businesses and residents are able to take advantage of the huge benefits of pure fibre connectivity. We are seeing the transformation in York already, and we are pleased that Keycom are joining the fibre revolution in York.”
