MLL Telecom launches FibreConnect in partnership with CityFibre
Businesses in Stirling can now experience a Gigabit boost thanks to MLL Telecom and CityFibre – a partnership which is already working together to future-proof Stirling Council’s digital infrastructure by providing next-generation internet services over a brand new, purpose built full fibre network.
Launched during Stirling Business Week (May 2018), MLL’s commercial sector offering – FibreConnect – is now being rolled out, giving local businesses the chance to benefit from dedicated full fibre broadband capable of gigabit speeds and near limitless capacity. This will allow Stirling’s businesses to become more agile and increase productivity by embracing technologies such as cloud computing software, high quality video conferencing and smart office appliances.
Jeremy Wastie, Head of New Business, Public Sector at MLL Telecom said: “Stirling is a city with big ambitions and its 3000-strong business community is no different. We are excited to be a driving force in aiding the city’s entrepreneurial business growth. Our ultrafast FibreConnect services will give local businesses the much-needed connectivity speeds to boost productivity and create new jobs that will ultimately benefit the entire community.”
Gigabit City Builder, CityFibre, has already installed 24km of network, which now connects most of Stirling city’s public sector estate including schools, libraries and community venues such as the Tolbooth and the Albert Hall.
Stirling was also recently announced as part of the first wave of cities to benefit from a full fibre-to-the-premises roll-out as part of CityFibre’s partnership with Vodafone, extending the existing network to bring it within reach of practically every home and business in the city.
Currently, less than three per cent of UK premises benefit from a full fibre connection – a position CityFibre is ambitious to change quickly.
James McClafferty, Head of Regional Development at CityFibre, added: “Full fibre is the gold standard in digital connectivity and a ‘must have’ foundation for growth and development in the digital age. This makes it an especially vital asset for thriving cities like Stirling, which is ambitious to become a hotbed for digital innovation, new start-ups and business growth.
“By giving businesses access to the same ultrafast speeds, unlimited bandwidth and unbeatable reliability as their public sector colleagues, the city will have the foundation it needs to become one of the best connected in Europe. And, now that residents are also set to benefit, this historic city will soon be light years ahead of so many others twice its size across the world.”
Gordon Bell, Chief Executive at local business support organisation, STEP said “Businesses in Stirling have been crying out for greater digital infrastructure that can support their ambitious growth plans for some time. It’s very exciting to hear that ‘Gigabit City’ status will put Stirling ahead of the game in the UK for connectivity, allowing these businesses to not only grow but to take their business to the next level.”
