‘Gigabit Games' powered by the Peterborough CORE

12 March 2015

CityFibre is delighted to announce that Peterborough’s first ever e-sports tournament is being powered by gigabit speed connectivity over the new Peterborough CORE network. The CityLAN event is set to attract more than 600 gamers with a prize pool of £10,000. It will run non-stop from 9am Thursday 20 to midnight Sunday 22 August. The event will take place at the Kingsgate Conference Centre, one of the first venues in Peterborough to provide its visitors with gigabit speed internet connectivity over the Peterborough CORE. As the UK's first 'Gigabit Games', users will benefit from ultra-fast speeds and ultra-low latency over the next-generation digital network. Andy Starnes, our city development manager, said: “This event shows Peterborough is really positioning itself as a Gigabit City. The games industry plays a key role in the digital economy and digital infrastructure is vital to support it. “We are delighted that the Peterborough CORE is helping the city’s gaming community to stay one step ahead of their online opponents.” The event will also host a careers and technology expo, focusing on technology in the workplace and giving about 80 businesses the chance to show what they have to offer to the experts of tomorrow. Entrance to the careers expo is free and tickets for the gaming zone can be bought from the Peterborough Visitors Centre and Peterborough United Football Club. Find out more at citylan.co.uk
