22nd July: Bradford’s full fibre network rollout has reached another milestone, with the first residents now connected.
CityFibre is investing £75m to bring the fastest and most reliable digital connectivity to the town. Construction work began in February of this year and, once complete, the network will be within reach of almost every home and property in Bradford.
Work is underway in Bowling and Tyersal, with the first customers now live and able to access gigabit-capable internet services. The first ISP to offer services on Bradford’s CityFibre network is Legend Fibre.
Makhanjeet Singh, one of the first residents to sign-up for Legend Fibre’s gigabit-speed broadband, said: “During the short time I’ve had the service the difference in speed and reliability is huge. We opted for the one gigabit service, which easily covers my family’s requirements and that of my corner shop business. I’m proud to be one of the first residents in Bradford to get the service as I know how important a fast, stable broadband connection is for families. I’ve been telling all my customers about the service and what a gamechanger it is.”
Muhammad Nouman, another early-adopter of Legend Fibre’s service, added: “Our family would often be greeted with the “buffer wheel” when trying to view content online; however, since the switch to full fibre, we’ve had no issues with internet speed which has been fantastic. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to upgrade their connection.”
Kim Johnston, City Manager at CityFibre, said: “I’m so happy to welcome our first users in Bradford and to see that the experience is living up to, and even exceeding, expectations.
“As our build develops in Bradford, and throughout Yorkshire, we can’t wait for more and more residents just like Muhammad and Makhanjeet to jump on board the network and see first-hand what a huge difference a full fibre connection can make to our everyday digital lives.”
Mark Elders, Director, Legend Communications Ltd, commented: “We are delighted to be the first ISP to deliver residential, symmetrical, gigabit broadband in Bradford through the fast developing CityFibre network.”
As progress continues, CityFibre is committed to keeping local businesses and residents fully up to date on plans for each community, as well as highlighting the benefits that access to full fibre will bring to all.
