  • Giganet extends its partnership to provide Full Fibre broadband across 27 of CityFibre’s ‘Gigabit Cities’ addressing 1.8m homes
  • Expansion comes six months after Giganet’s initial commitment to offer Full Fibre services in Portsmouth, Swindon, Reading, Plymouth, Crawley and Horsham
  • Consumer demand for Full Fibre has helped unlock £250m investment to support Giganet’s continued growth

CityFibre has announced the expansion of its partnership with Giganet to extend its Full Fibre home broadband services to people living in 22 additional ‘Gigabit Cities’ including Cambridge, Cheltenham and Norwich. Having joined CityFibre’s rapidly expanding national network late last year, the announcement brings the total locations Giganet will be serving to 27, reaching more than 1.8 million homes when completed.

Giganet has been successfully offering its gigabit Full Fibre broadband packages to residents in Portsmouth over CityFibre’s new state-of-the-art network since the start of the year, with Swindon, Reading, Plymouth, Crawley and Horsham set to follow. Strong customer demand coupled with high customer satisfaction rates due to the superior speed and reliability of Full Fibre broadband has enabled Giganet to rapidly expand onto many more of CityFibre’s networks across the South of England later this year.

Giganet has also recently announced the completion of a £250m funding round. The financing will enable them to expand and accelerate their sales and marketing capabilities of Full Fibre broadband, as well as build their own Full Fibre network in underserved areas across counties including Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and West Sussex.

Andrew Skipsey, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Giganet said: “The Giganet team are looking forward to significantly expanding the areas we serve across the South of England. Following tremendous success in Portsmouth, our first residential CityFibre city, our relationship with CityFibre is set to strengthen and develop rapidly. Our focus on customer service, evidenced by our 5 Star Trustpilot rating, puts us in a great position to connect more homes.”

Greg Mesch, Chief Executive Officer at CityFibre, said: “We’re thrilled that Giganet has chosen CityFibre’s networks to support their offer of next generation Full Fibre broadband to millions of homes across the South.

“We are proud to be offering a new, world-class digital infrastructure platform for ISPs that provides them with improved products and economics, and a true competitive advantage. Giganet’s rapid expansion demonstrates the massive potential for new, dynamic and exciting brands to seize the Full Fibre opportunity.”

CityFibre has identified 285 locations that are set to benefit from a Full Fibre rollout, comprising an up to £4 billion nationwide investment programme. The nationwide build programme is expected to be substantially completed by 2025 and will address approximately a third of the UK market including up to 8 million homes, 800,000 businesses, 400,000 public sector sites and 250,000 5G access points.

CityFibre is also evaluating further opportunities to expand its nationwide rollout ambitions. This could entail the extension of more of its existing build projects alongside possible participation in the BDUK rural programme.
