CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre network, has been identified as a leader in gender inclusion after securing a position in The Times’ list of the top 50 employers for gender equality in the UK.
The prestigious award from Business in the Community (BITC) in collaboration with The Times has been championing diverse and equal places of work for 14 years. It marks UK businesses against strict criteria that demonstrates their commitment to maintaining and improving gender equality policies and activities through accurate measurement and management.
CityFibre has made significant progress in recent years to ensure gender equity is improved throughout its business. This has included a wide range of flexible working initiatives, inclusivity tools and training, issue-based support groups and the implementation of standardised recruitment processes. As a result, 82% of employees across all genders working at CityFibre felt that they could be their true authentic self at work.
This is the third time CityFibre has received this award since 2021, recognising the actions taken to drive female empowerment and improve gender equality within the workplace.
Greg Mesch, Chief Executive at CityFibre, said: "We're delighted to receive this recognition from BITC for our efforts to create a more diverse and equal workplace. Gender equality is not optional but addressing it is complex and requires constant attention and improvement. While we're proud of the progress we have made so far, we also know that we still have a long way to go. We will continue to listen to our employees, learn from best practices, and implement initiatives that nurtures a culture of inclusion and empowerment for everyone in our business."
