CityFibre and OCU Open Day event rescheduled

31 July 2020

We’re sorry to announce that CityFibre and OCU have decided to reschedule our planned Open Day scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 1st August. We have taken this difficult decision in light of the new lockdown restrictions issued last night in Yorkshire and Lancashire following a spike in Covid-19 transmission. While huge efforts had been taken to ensure the safety of the public and staff at the outdoor event, both CityFibre and OCU have agreed that the most responsible action to take, given the proximity of the OCU’s site in Leeds to the affected areas, was to reschedule it to a later date. This will be held as soon as safely possible. The Open Day was arranged to highlight the numerous career opportunities currently available at OCU, CityFibre’s build partner for its full fibre rollout in Leeds, and to provide those interested in the sector with a chance to speak to those responsible for delivering this exciting and important infrastructure project. We’ve been delighted to see the huge public interest in this event, so we’re fully aware that this last minute change will be very disappointing for those planning to attend tomorrow – as it is for the OCU and CityFibre teams who were looking forward to welcoming them. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we feel that it is the only responsible action to take in the circumstances. We would ask all those keen to learn more about opportunities at OCU to register their interest at https://www.buildthenetwork.cityfibre.com/. Details of the rescheduled Open Day will be communicated when a new date is confirmed.
