CityFibre and Entanet win first award under new ownership

CityFibre and Entanet win first award under new ownership

22 June 2018

Today marks an auspicious day for CityFibre with the completion of our successful transition into private ownership and the timely win of a channel accolade that recognises the value that Entanet – our wholesale business – is bringing to service providers across the UK. CityFibre’s shares were delisted from the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange first thing this morning meaning the company is now jointly and privately owned by Antin Infrastructure Partners and West Street Infrastructure Partners. The new owners are two large infrastructure-focused funds who share the excitement and ambition for CityFibre’s business plan. CEO Greg Mesch explained: “Over the last five years and during our time as a public company, CityFibre has shaken up the UK telecoms market and sparked the race to deliver a full fibre future for Britain. Our rapid network growth, the addition of Entanet to serve the channel and our pioneering work to prove a business model capable of accelerating FTTP roll out across whole cities, has attracted the support and investment needed to activate this next stage of our exciting journey,” But the good news doesn’t stop there. Timed almost to perfection, last night at the Comms Business Awards, CityFibre’s wholesale business Entanet – which became part of CityFibre in summer 2017 – swept up the prize of Best Channel Connectivity Supplier. The award highlights the value already being driven to businesses of all sizes by recognising the work Entanet has been doing to give its channel partners direct access to a new range of transformational full fibre services. "We’re delighted to achieve such a fantastic award at such a pivotal time,” said Elsa Chen, CEO, Entanet. “It recognises a truly exciting period for us and our partners, especially those that embrace the full fibre advantage we are delivering. As part of the CityFibre Group, Entanet is not only able to provide a one-stop-shop for all our partners’ connectivity needs, but also provide them direct access to a modern full fibre infrastructure that is fundamentally changing the UK’s connectivity landscape." With new owners in situ, full fibre infrastructure projects across 51 UK towns and cities, and a wholesale business that is clearly turning heads, CityFibre is now perfectly positioned to achieve its target of five million fibre connected premises by 2025 – representing 20% of the current UK broadband market.
