Aberdeen Businesses Given Opportunity To Learn How Ultrafast Connectivity Can Help Ease The Pain Of The O&G Slump

With businesses suffering from the downturn in the Oil & Gas industry looking for ways to cut costs and improve efficiency, our partner Commsworld is hosting an event to help businesses learn more about how their operations can be transformed by a new ultra-fast network.

The Next Generation Networks event, taking place next Wednesday 11^th November at the Village Hotel Club in Aberdeen, will outline how businesses can best utilise the Aberdeen ultra-fast pure-fibre network.

Delegates will hear from key speakers from CityFibre, as well as Commsworld and brightsolid, who will outline the huge potential their combined services can offer, with improved efficiency cited as being especially significant for the Aberdeen economy.

Telecommunication Network provider, Commsworld, has seen the level of business interest in the city grow substantially this year as firms look for smarter, faster online connectivity to improve their internal and external services. Ricky Nicol, Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting this event and engaging with the Aberdeen business community. It is evident that a great number of businesses in the city are either feeling the pinch of the low oil price directly or the knock on effects of the downturn in the industry and simply need to make efficiency savings.

In March this year CityFibre launched its Aberdeen network project, which will see a “pure fibre network” installed in Aberdeen allowing business to access gigabit internet speeds. Brightsolid recently opened its new state-of-the-art data centre on its Lang Stracht site, which will be accessible over the Aberdeen network– and will provide businesses with vital data handling from the centre at ultra-fast service speeds. CEO, Richard Higgs, is keen to see Aberdeen data stay in the city rather than it going south to the central belt or London and believes the local economy can be helped by the increased collaboration this would enable. He said: “What I think is really exciting for Aberdeen right now is the potential to create a peering centre – so that data can stay within Aberdeen and significantly lower transit costs. Making a city-centric comms network would resolve the uneven distribution of connectivity and improve collaboration across the industries that are feeling the effects of the low oil price.”
