Assistance now provided with cost of connecting to York CORE
London, 24 March 2014 – The digital connectivity of York’s business community has taken a leap forward with the launch of a connection voucher scheme as part of the SuperConnected Cities programme. The vouchers offer businesses up to £3000 towards network connection costs, enabling them to access affordable Gigabit speed services in the city over CityFibre’s pure fibre network, the York CORE. The York CORE already supports Gigabit speed services to nearly 190 sites across the city, providing council offices, schools, hospitals and businesses with next generation digital connectivity that is transforming the way that the City of York operates and communicates in the digital age. The voucher scheme, launched by the City of York Council last week, will enable even more companies to take advantage of the long-term benefits of the fibre network. ‘Gigabit as standard’ business services are now available from all the York CORE’s wholesale service provider partners including York Data Services, Pinacl Solutions and Razorblue. These unbeatable and affordable gigabit speed services will unlock the potential of cutting-edge software and cloud-based applications to benefit businesses, improving productivity and driving the bottom line.“The voucher scheme is the perfect opportunity for York’s businesses to super-charge their connectivity. Our partners, York Data Services, Pinacl Solutions and Razorblue are all offering transformational Gigabit connectivity solutions that take full advantage of the unique Gigabit capabilities of the York CORE. With up to £3000 towards the cost of connection, what business could afford to miss out on this opportunity?” said Greg Mesch, CEO at CityFibre. “Most businesses recognise that their data requirements and reliance on connectivity is growing exponentially and only connecting to the pure fibre York CORE network though one of our Service Provider Partners will deliver the unbeatable, economical and reliable performance they require long into the future.”
The portfolio of services available from the partners and CityFibre directly, is symmetrical Gigabit-speeds as standard although each ISP will offer its own set of full connectivity solutions. The first applicant for the scheme, Field & Fawcett, an online wine merchant and delicatessen, will connect to the CORE with a service from York Data Services. Peter Fawcett said: “We have been made aware of the advantages in upgrading to an ultra-fast connection and we are excited about the transformation this will bring to our business. The voucher scheme is a great initiative helping businesses like ourselves take the initial steps in future proofing our business.”York businesses can now find out if they are eligible for the voucher scheme and enter an application by going to: www.theyorkcore.com
