Three new service providers launch over the Peterborough CORE

14 August 2014

Three new local service providers have signed agreements with CityFibre, the company behind Peterborough’s new pure fibre optic internet network, to offer businesses gigabit speed connectivity over the Peterborough CORE. The Peterborough-based service providers - Consulting Networks, Cyberware and Rydal Communications - join CityFibre’s existing partner, Businesscoms, to provide tailored communications solutions over the Peterborough CORE network, including VoIP, cloud computing and ultrafast internet connectivity. This development follows last week’s announcement that Peterborough’s city centre is now live with gigabit speed connectivity and the network build has subsequently moved to the next two construction areas - which are already 30% complete. Andy Starnes, City Development Manager at CityFibre, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome our new reseller partners to the Peterborough CORE. “The build of the network is progressing rapidly, so it’s the perfect time to bring new partners on board to service the increasing demand for gigabit speed connectivity in the city. “Each partner brings a distinct offering to businesses and demonstrates the growing appetite from service providers to supply truly differentiated gigabit speed services.” More than 800 businesses have already registered their interest for the Peterborough CORE which is helping CityFibre to design an optimised route for the network to accommodate demand. Areas of the city which are located away from the core network route have specific registration targets to meet before detailed planning can commence to connect the area - this includes Fengate, Lynchwood and Orton Southgate.
