CityFibre welcomed as new patron of the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce

1 August 2019

CityFibre has become the latest patron of the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce as it continues to build its presence in the region. With its full fibre projects in the Yorkshire region, and particularly Leeds, gaining real traction, CityFibre has joined the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce to engage with local businesses and communities and raise awareness of the benefits of modern, fit-for-purpose digital infrastructure. Leeds is among nine locations in Yorkshire to benefit from CityFibre’s state-of-the-art full fibre roll-out and one of the first to experience Vodafone Gigafast Broadband services. Work commenced in June, as part of a £120m private investment, to extend its full fibre network to reach almost every home and business in the city. The first residents will be able to enjoy the fastest, most reliable gigabit-speed connectivity from early 2020. CityFibre has grown its presence in Leeds significantly in 2019, engaging with the local community through a number of events and workshop sessions. The recent patronage will see CityFibre reach more companies and individuals across the West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce network to help nurture a sustainable business-friendly environment, as well as support economic success in the region. Kim Johnston, CityFibre’s city manager for Leeds, said: “Yorkshire is a hugely important region for CityFibre and it’s the perfect time to join the West & North Yorkshire Chamber as our Leeds project takes shape. “We’re dedicated to helping businesses and communities to understand the long-term importance of reliable, rapid and limitless capacity broadband so that they can maximise their own potential and help the region to thrive as a whole. “We’re delighted to join the Chamber as a patron and look forward to getting involved in the coming months.” Amanda Beresford, Leeds Chamber of Commerce President, added: “We are excited to welcome CityFibre as a Patron. “With many of our members set to benefit from CityFibre’s network, this is a great opportunity to build relationships and put ourselves on a stronger footing to solidify Yorkshire’s reputation as a leading digital destination.” Stay up to date with CityFibre’s Gigabit City vision for Leeds by visiting: www.cityfibre.com/leeds To find out more about Vodafone Gigafast Broadband and register your interest visit: www.vodafone.co.uk/gigafast/register
