CityFibre has now laid a staggering 240km of full fibre internet beneath the streets of Bolton as part of its £37m plan to future-proof the town’s digital connectivity.
This milestone from the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform now means there is enough full fibre connecting the town’s homes to take in 723 laps of the University of Bolton Stadium’s pitch, home of Bolton Wanderers FC.
Steve Moore, CityFibre’s Area Manager for Bolton, said: “We’re well on our way to making Bolton world-class in terms of its digital infrastructure, and the residents here will reap the benefits for decades to come. The simple fact that we have now laid enough fibre in Bolton to take in 723 laps of the Wanderers’ stadium, really hits home how much progress we have made.
“With our network now live across many parts of the area, including Astley Bridge and Farnworth, we are pleased to enable residents to connect to the fastest and most reliable broadband services available.”
Bolton is one of a growing number of locations in the UK to benefit from CityFibre’s nationwide full fibre rollout, which will bring new and improved broadband infrastructure within reach of up to eight million premises.
Locally, the rollout is being completed by CityFibre’s build partner, MakeHappenGroup, which currently has teams working in Egerton, to the East and West of Blackburn Road as well as North and South of the A48 in areas like Smithhills and Barrow Bridge. Large sections of the town have also been completed, including Astley Bridge and Farnworth, with more to follow shortly.
CityFibre’s goal is to provide residents with a competitive choice of providers. In Bolton, customers can sign up to UK launch partner, Vodafone, on selected Vodafone Pro Broadband plans, as well as TalkTalk, Giganet, Zen, along with a range of other providers.
People interested in upgrading their home’s digital connection to full fibre can find out more about the build, pre-register their interest and ensure they are updated on service availability here.
