CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, has today announced the launch of its new 8.5Gb product, rolling out across its nationwide network and bringing Multi-Gig speeds to millions of premises throughout the UK.

This next generation product unleashes speeds of up to 8.5Gb, enabling Internet Service Providers (ISPs) on the CityFibre network to provide game changing services that power innovation and growth for homes, businesses and the UK economy.

Following record-breaking growth in 2025¹ and the rollout of 10Gb XGS-PON technology across CityFibre’s nationwide full fibre footprint, currently reaching over 4.7m premises and with plans to reach more than 8m, the introduction of the new 8.5Gb product is the next evolution of CityFibre’s Multi-Gig portfolio.

From 21^st April, CityFibre’s 8.5Gb wholesale product will be available to all of its ISP partners.

CityFibre is already rolling out its 10Gb ONT, the small in‑home device that converts the incoming full‑fibre signal into a broadband connection, across all new customer installs, meaning partners will be able to launch market-leading propositions across a network that’s ready for future needs.

CityFibre’s continued product, pricing and service leadership is delivering record growth for the company, with over 30,000 customer adds each month as the company approaches its one million customers milestone. In recent months, around 70% of households who were switching broadband provider were moved onto the CityFibre network where available².
