Ferguson Financial Solicitors makes Peterborough network connection an essential for office move

Background

Ferguson Financial Solicitors is a law firm, offering commercial litigation and insolvency legal services, including debt recovery, financial mis-selling and dispute resolution. The business was originally part of London employment law specialists Ferguson Solicitors LLP but started trading as a stand-alone firm in Peterborough in 2013. A successful start to life as Ferguson Financial Solicitors saw the business recognised, at the prestigious Modern Law Awards 2014, as a leader in its field. Originally the firm was based in serviced offices in the centre of Peterborough but with business expanding and the number of staff increasing, soon the search began for an office of its own.

Challenge

Searching for suitable offices in Peterborough, Ferguson Financial Solicitors spotted an ideal unit at Flag Business Exchange in Vicarage Farm Road, Fengate, Peterborough, but was put off due to the broadband connection. Managing Director, Maurice Power, said: “All forms of our communication go through the internet – phone, IT, email. We’ve always used VOIP and its flexibility was important to us. “Everything is stored in the cloud so having a robust broadband provider was paramount to the efficiency of our business. “We liked the office but Flag Business Exchange had notoriously poor broadband so we discarded it as an option.”

Solution

Flag Business Exchange commercial agents, Barker Storey Matthews, were quick to point out that the offices had committed to connecting to the Peterborough network, through GreenCity Solutions, and gigabit speed connectivity was on its way. Recognising the potential of what the Peterborough network could deliver with ultra-fast pure fibre straight into the business premises – Ferguson Financial Solicitors made the decision to move there. Mr Power said: “When the agents said that the Peterborough network were installing fibre to the premises, it made us reconsider and we said we’d move in as soon as it was connected. We opened on January 2 and it was worth the wait.” “As a law firm we not only need to store vast amounts of information, we also need to ensure its security. With a connection to the network we have peace of mind with ultra-fast, reliable and secure access to our cloud archiving and remote data storage.” Now it has put down roots in Peterborough, the firm is looking forward to continuing it’s growth and will be holding an open day on 12th June to encourage local businesses to come along and find out more about what it can offer. Flag Business Exchange was one of the first premises in Peterborough outside the city centre to benefit from gigabit speed connectivity. The connection into Flag Business Exchange was installed by Peterborough network partner, GreenCity Solutions.
